"FOS K3 BRONIWAAWU" PANTS TOO????????-ebeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
"Used underpants" are gaining popularity among a section of the Ghanaian public due in part to their relatively cheaper prices.(they have always been with us,I think)
Other reasons why anyone will patronize such used undergarments are not well documented, but it does not take rocket science to know that these garments have dire health defects.
Our homes and markets have become dumping grounds for some of these things such as (used appliances-referigerators,electronic devices-computers,television sets,clothes-shirts,trousers,skirts,shoes among many others).
Authorities claim to have enforced a strict ban on the importation of a couple of these goods, notably used refrigerators et al.
I am not too sure what the situation on used clothes, generally is.
Much as it's not ideal to use some of these "goods",it appears a particular class of people in this country necessarily have to make do with these,alternative-less,obviously for economic reasons.
I would not sit on here and pretend to be all blameless, many times I have had to purchase some of these used clothes "fos" and "broniwaawu" and shoes too.
But to think people go as far as literally buying and using boxer shorts and what we call "pants" which have been used already and imported into the country,is someway.
On Friday afternoon,on my way to the Madina station from my rounds,I saw a shocking spectacle-maybe not too shocking but instructive......
A rush for these "used underpants" caught my attention,"bebree one cedi, one cedi"-to wit (plenty for one cedi-my hustler friends know what I mean).
This middle aged vendor had set up calling out for customers to come around and pick them up,cheap.......pants and boxers, and I obviously could not help but get these pictures.
I am not a health officer, and certainly not the first to admit that wearing some of these used undergarments can be disastrous-to our selves.
Perhaps our more competent friends in health circles can help us better appreciate the harm we are causing ourselves and advise appropriately-who knows,we may just think not twice or thrice, but maybe four times before attempting to buy some of these used undergarments moving forward.
