Misfiring strikers,leaky back line

A few seasons past, teams that played Chelsea football club, dreaded being mauled and humiliated anytime a match day was nigh.Gone are the days when one would ask;how many goals did Chelsea score, after a game.Simply because teams were scored to submission, four, five, six and even seven goals were normally being scored by the team, and the defense conceded miserly few goals. These phenomena took a down town during the latter days of the Stamford bridge "beast"-the drog. The arrival of club record signing Fernando Torres was supposed to invigorate the Chelsea frontline and goal scoring department, but fast forward, this has not seen the light of day.It will be preposterous for anybody to argue that all is well with this Chelsea team, considering how poor the Chelsea striking department have fared thus far, scoring a disappointing seven league goals among them;Torres,Eto'o,and Ba,compared to Luis suarez's twenty at this stage in the league. As if the poor goal scoring returns by the strikers is not enough insult, the back line has become more porous than sea sand.On a consistent basis, the team concedes otherwise avoidable goals, more from set-pieces.Only on a few occasions will you see defenders throwing their bodies on the line to block goal-bound shots. Before the second coming of the self acclaimed "happy one",these were the areas that needed massive bolstering. At least the options available in defense have upped their game, the likes of John Terry who was bashed last season for some really poor defending seems to have picked up.Reliable Gary CAhill has been phenomenal as well as full backs Cesar Azpilicueta,Branislav Ivan and Ashley Cole, but the problems among the strikers seem to have worsened.Samuel Eto'o,who used to be an amazing center forward during the peaks of his illustrious career, took a pay cut to join the team from Anzi ,a temporary stop gap,I guess, while promising youngster Romelu Lukaku was again loaned to Everton, following his goal scoring feats at Westbromwich Albion, the season past. One would have thought the twenty year old would at least be given the chance to lead the line, but this was not to be,instead,Mourinho went in for a certain thirty six year old, defunct striker to add to the already existing problem striker the team was grappling with.None of the team's strikers scored a goal away from home in 2013,a very worrying record which has to be overwhelmed this year.Majority of the goals have had to come from the very hardworking midfielders in Oscar,Hazard,Willian,Ramires, and the like. And with the first round of matches played, and how tough the league has become this season, for Chelsea to have a dog's chance of winning silverware,Mourinho must stop all the "we have three strikers who are doing very well" rap,and jump into the market, sign a prolific marksman, who can average twenty goals a season, and as well reorganize the rearguard of Chelsea to be resolute, and defend for their lives.if he fails however to do this, then all the efforts by the brilliant midfielders would be like setting fire to the wind, leaving the team to go trophy less ,despite hanging in third position on the log momentarily.Meanwhile two time chelsea player of the year and Spanish international has fallen down the pecking order at the bridge. It is unclear whether the Spanish genius would continue to stay at the bridge and rot on the bench ahead of the World Cup,for reasons the gaffer knows best. But if I am to advise Juan Manuel Mata, then he must leave the bridge to a team which will appreciate his amazing talent and give him more playing time ahead of the World Cup,because Vicente Del Bosque would not call up inactive players for the tournament which he wants to win..........He remains an absolutely brilliant player for my money, who could walk into the first team of any club.
